Have you ever heard of Triclosan? This is an active ingredient in many personal and household hygiene products such as toothpaste. Triclosan, an antibacterial chemical and was first introduced as a pesticide in 1969. It has been incorporated in consumer products for more than 30 years, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. A CDC study has found triclosan present in the urine of 75% of the people tested. Minnesota’s Gov. Mark Dayton recently signed a bill legalizing a measure banning triclosan-containing products in the state. The law will go into effect January 1, 2017.
